SCOTT TAYLOR

A versatile musician, Scott has been performing in jazz, R&B, swing and rock bands from New York to Washington, DC.  Scott has his own band (The Scott Taylor Band) and also works with other performers, most recently, Mike Thornton (of the Capitol Steps), the Jay Cooley Quartet and the Fresh Air band.

Scott started playing drums professionally when he was 14 years old.  During his college years he toured with the show band Inspiration with Tiny Barge and Wade Matthews.  Scott later played with the Ernie Fields Band, Liz Meyers and the Midnight Flyers, Bill Holland and Rent’s Due, Billy Hancock, Tom Principato, Pete Kennedy, Ellsworth Gibson and Brother Black and the pianist Doug Carn.

In Washington, Scott worked with Gene Donati’s Orchestra, Sidney’s Orchestra, Miles Stiebel and Sam Shrieber  (from the Redskins Band). Out of New York Scott played with Meyer Davis and groups from the Hardwick, Harrington and Donner agencies

In the 90’s Scott was the Musical Director for the Washington, DC cruise line The Odyssey.
